4.21.12- Happy Earth Day...Cruise Recap

This is late in coming because its been about 2 weeks since I returned from my cruise to the Bahamas and Turks Caicos Islands.

It was such an anticipated event that got off to a slow and rocky start and even at the very end it was still a nail biter. But once we got to the port it was like we FINALLY made it. YAY!!!

Henry our stateroom attendant got to know me and my roomie by name very well immediately because we decided we weren't going to go to the safety briefing.  I mean if the ship goes down we know how to find a muster station and put on a life jacket. But alas we HAD to go. Luckily we dragged our feet long enough that the thing was nearly over by the time we made it to the muster stations... Yeah I know bad girl, gonna get kicked off the boat. LOL

As much talking up I did about sea sickness and bracelets and pills I was the one who ended up getting sick as a dog. The first night was fine but that next morning we were at sea I was DONE. The water was rocky and after working out the nausea just overcame me. I spent the entire day in my state room up until dinner time.

The cruise ship itself was nice, mostly decorated with naked people and fat little cherubs. Everywhere you looked some naked person is staring you down. LOL

My cruise buddies and I managed to find our way around very nicely. The 2.5 days at sea allowed us to get to know our boat well. By the time we reached the coast of FL it was warm enough for us to actually sun outside on the decks and get into the pools on board the ship.

FOOD was NOT an issue and was in abundance of course.  Dinners were amazing, the shows were entertaining and just being on vacation was heaven!

We watched comedy shows, participated in scavenger hunts and actually worked out pretty regularly.
At our first port of call we didn't get a chance to hang out as one big group but we each did our own thing and my roomie and I ended up taking a taxi into town and exploring Grand Turk on our own.

We saw wild donkeys and horses just roaming thru town.  I went on a tour/snorkel excursion and got to see the Salt Flats that Grand Turk was famous for for over 400 years.
Too bad refrigerators put their salt trade out of business. No need to use salt to preserve meat when you can just put it in the ice box.

Our 2nd and what would be our final port of call was Half Moon Cay, Bahamas.

It was a private island that the cruise ship had access to. We took tenders to get to the island and spent the day enjoying the pristine white beaches,  crystal clear water  and many attractions on the island. I got to see the sting rays, went on a nature walk and even went horse back riding both thru the island trails and in the actual ocean.

It was amazing. My rooms and I had a blast with the horseback riding.
The day was one of the MOST relaxing days of the entire trip and I didn't want to leave the island.
This sign was perfect!!!

At some point I found myself on stage participating in a challenge where I had to grab a coin and walk with it towards a cup and drop it in the cup. Sounds easy enough but when you can only use your butt cheeks its definitely more challenging.
